LG Group has been looking for a driving force to step up in China. So LG regards the green industry as a driving force.
Now LG wants to be a green growth pioneer in China and will enhance its image through Shanghai Expo 2010.
“We intensively fostered green business products as a strategic project until now and we are going to introduce green business products such as solar batteries, light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and batteries for electric automobiles in Shanghai Expo,” said a LG Group official.
LG Electronics has led LG Group to enter Chinese market. LG Electronics has 40 local subsidiaries in China since it has established a production plant in 1993, in Huizhou, China.
Moreover, LG Electronics enhanced the group’s position in China as it established ‘Beijing Twin Tower’ in the center of Bejing in June 2006.
LG Electronics and LG Chem respectively launched their holding companies in China in 2004 and 2005.
Those companies try to succeed in localization by developing all-in-one structure.
In 2010, LG Display is waiting for an approval from Chinese government to build its eighth-generation LCD production plant in Guangzhou.
LG Chem is establishing ABS(acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene) compounding factory in Guangdong.
Moreover, LG Group contributes to public welfare and protection of the environment in China. LG Group wants to make its image friendly to get close to Chinese people.
As part of the effort, LG Group built “Yutang LG middle School” in Dujiangyan, Sichuan and it provided swabs and some materials to prevent SARS.
As expanding the campaign “I Love China”, LG Group operates scholarship programs and cultural events.
“Considering the possibility of growth and geographical accessibility, I think Chinese market is one with huge growth potential rather than a mere production base,” the LG official said.
“With love towards China, I want to develop businesses here,” he added.
