South Korea's No. 2 carmaker Kia Motors Corp. will recall 20,777 vehicles due to a fault in the fuel injection system, the transportation ministry said Friday.

Subject to the recall is the Morning subcompact model produced between Nov. 13, 2009 and Feb. 5, 2010, according to the Ministry of Land, Transportation and Maritime Affairs.

They have defective fuel injection pipes which could crack and leak oil when chemically reacting with calcium chloride, used mostly in winter to remove snow on the road.

Owners of the vehicles can get free repairs at Kia's service centers from Monday, the ministry said. The Morning is one of the top-selling subcompact cars in South Korea.//Yonhap
