South Korea Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to take part in work to restore and preserve ancient temples inside Angkor Thom, a famous historic site in Cambodia.

The signing took place between Korea's Cultural Heritage Administration and the Cambodian Authority for the Protection and Management of Angkor and the Region of Siem Reap (APSARA) on the sidelines of the 37th meeting of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee in Phnom Penh.

The MOU calls for the restoration and preservation of a group of five temples, called "Preah Pithu," at Angkor. They are located in Angkor Thom.
