More than a half of middle and high school students did not know when the 1950-53 Korean War broke out, a survey said Sunday.

About 52.7 percent of students questioned said they do not know the year the fratricidal war broke out, according to the survey conducted by Research & Research at the request of the Ministry of Security and Public Administration.

The survey of 1,000 students and 1,000 people aged 19 or older said 36.5 percent of adults had no knowledge of the year the war broke out.

The poll was carried out between May 25 and June 6.
