South Korea and Vietnam opened the fifth round of negotiations for a bilateral free trade agreement (FTA) in Seoul on Tuesday, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said.

At the new round of negotiations which will continue through Friday, the two countries will discuss the level of opening in each area, such as products, service and investment, the ministry said in a press release.

In a summit in 2013, the leaders of the two countries agreed to conclude negotiations for a "comprehensive and high-level FTA" by the end of 2014.

South Korea has already signed a free trade pact with the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), including Vietnam, its ninth largest trading partner.
