South Korea's brand value soars 29% in 2014: Brand Finance

South Korea's total brand value soared 29 percent in 2014 from the previous year, according to a British brand valuation consultancy. 

The country was the world's ninth-fastest growing nation brand, the consultancy, Brand Finance, said in its annual report on the world’s 100 leading "nation brands." Qatar and Bangladesh tied for first place in the list of best performers with a 39 percent growth, followed by Sri Lanka and Kazakhstan (37 percent), Ireland and the Philippines (35 percent), Colombia (32 percent) and Vietnam (30 percent).

South Korea remained at No. 16 with a US$997 billion brand value in the 100 "nation brands" list.

The United States topped the list with a $19.26 trillion brand value which was more than three times that of second-ranked China, whose brand value came in at $6.35 trillion.
 
Germany was the third-most valuable nation brand with $4.36 trillion, followed by Britain ($2.83 trillion) and Japan ($2.46 trillion).

The Netherlands ranked 15th with $1.026 trillion, ahead of South Korea. Italy came in 11th with $1.29 trillion, followed by Russia ($1.17 trillion), Switzerland ($1.15 trillion) and Mexico ($1.027 trillion).
