Two South Korean companies' share in the European flat TV market exceeded the 60-percent mark for the second consecutive year in 2014, a market researcher said on Tuesday.
Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics posted a combined 62.4 percent market share in Europe dominated by high-end TVs last year, up from 61.9 percent in the previous year, according to Display Research.
Samsung continued to top the list with a 39.7 percent share, up from 38.6 percent a year earlier, while LG had a 22.7 percent share, down from 23.3 percent in 2013.
Sony ranked third with 9.2 percent, up 3 percentage points from a year earlier, followed by AOC/TP Vision (6.6 percent, down 1.8 percentage points from 2013) and Panasonic (4.9 percent, down 0.9 percentage point from a year earlier). TCL was the only Chinese TV manufacturer to join the ranks of the top 10 players in the European flat TV market. It logged a 1.5 percent share, up 0.1 percentage point from 2013.
Also included in the top 10 were Toshiba (2.6 percent), Sharp (0.8 percent) and Grundig and Hitachi (0.6 percent each).
