Chung is the second South Korean to join the ranks of the top 100 in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) world rankings, after Lee Hyung-taik who reached a career-high ATP ranking of 36th in 2007.
Lu Yen-hsun of Taiwan, a quarterfinalist at the 2010 Wimbledon Championships, ranked 65th, four spots ahead of Chung.
Nishikori Kei of Japan placed sixth, becoming the highest-ranked Asian in the ATP singles rankings.
Novak Djokovic of Serbia, Roger Federer of Switzerland and Andy Murray of Britain retained the top three spots.
