David Bowie has died after 18 months long battle against cancer on Monday. Fans from worldwide are in grievance mourning the death of the legendary artist.
Bowie’s official Facebook account confirmed his death. “David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18-month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief," read the post.
The artist was an outstanding influential figure in the world’s music scene. Bowie was a singer-songwriter who made history in various rock genres including glam rock and art rock. He also excelled in soul, dance pop, punk and electronica during his career of 40 years.
The news of Bowie’s death struck fans even harder since the artist released his 25th album on Friday, which was his birthday.
Fans, Celebrities and others alike are visiting his social media to pay their respects. Over 260,000 replies of fans and 150,000 shares have been made in just an hour of the announcement.
