Latham & Watkins, a major US-based international law firm, has been allowed to open a branch in Seoul ahead of the full opening of South Korea's market for law-related consultancy services next year.
The Ministry of Justice said that it has approved Latham & Watkins' request to open its office in Seoul.
US law firms can provide unlimited legal services in partnership with local firms from March next year under a free trade agreement between South Korea and the United States.
Latham & Watkins, founded in 1934, is the world’s highest-grossing law firm, with 2.6 billion US dollars in annual revenue, and is widely considered to be one of the most prestigious and profitable law firms in the world.
