Solji, a leading member of popular girl group EXID, apologized for her temporary leave to treat hyperthyroidism.

The singer was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism after experiencing fever and bulging eyes, Banana Culture Entertainment said, adding she would rest for the time being and focus on receiving treatment. The disease was caused by excessive production of thyroid hormone that shows symptoms of weight loss, fatigue, irregular heartbeat and insomnia.

Through SNS, Solji apologized for shocking fans and promised to come back early. "I feel sorry for causing concern. I will try to regain my health as soon as possible."

Without Solji, the remaining four members -- LE, Hani, Hyelin and Junghwa -- will continue their activities, attending year-end award ceremonies, their agency said.

The girls made their debut in February 2012 and unexpectedly gained success after their 2014 single "Up & Down" which went viral in South Korea, China, and other Asian countries.
