SEOUL -- A Mercedes-Benz Korea employee was given an eight-month jail sentence for importing thousands of cars installed with uncertified emissions-related parts. The company was slapped with a fine of $2.4 million.
A court in Seoul sentenced the employee identified by his surname, Kim, to eight months in prison. He was accused of importing about 7,000 cars fitted with uncertified parts. Mercedes-Benz Korea was fined 2.8 billion won on charges of violating the Clean Air Conservation Act and Customs Law.
