SEOUL -- "I spit out myself in the song and lyrics," said Solar, the leading vocalist of South Korea's talented K-pop girl group Mamamoo, ahead of her solo debut with a single album titled "Spit it out" through which she expresses her own words and actions without hesitation.
The album is to be released at 6:00 p.m. on April 23. "Spit it out" is a song with trans sounds added to the energetic beat, and the top line that exhales hot breaths to exotic Latin guitar riffs increases concentration. Solar, 29, shows her confident self, not tied to other people's standards.
"There are a lot of lyrics that say 'spit it out with hot lips,' which means I spit out my passion. I put all my passion into this album," Solar said in a statement released by her agency, RBW.
Teaser images made headlines for an unconventional concept. Solar wears a unique clear plastic outfit and gives off a mysterious atmosphere, but her shaved hairstyle in the veil surprised fans. Her agency said Solar challenged the concept of shaving, which is unusual for a female singer, and showed her unrivaled presence with a more confident and outspoken appearance.
"Many people dissuaded me, but I believed that only that could show my sincerity," Solar said. She put all of her passion and musical capabilities into the album, participating directly throughout the album to enhance its perfection. "Starting with my first solo album, I want to deliver a lot of musical energy."
Solar debuted as a MAMAMOO member in 2014. The group has garnered love from young and old fans after appearing in "Queendom", a TV competition show involving female artists such as AOA and Lovelyz.
