Samsung Engineering wins deal from Aramco to build Jafura gas treatment facility

SEOUL -- Samsung Engineering, a construction and project management company in South Korea, has clinched a deal from Saudi Aramco to build a gas treatment facility in the package one development of the Jafura unconventional gas field in the Middle East country. Financial and other terms were not given. 

Samsung Engineering said in a regulatory filing on November 23 that the company has signed a contract on Jafura's gas processing package one project. The deal covers engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) works for the installation of a gas processing plant

Samsung Engineering is in charge of constructing a facility that produces high purity gas by removing impurities from raw gas. The Jafurah field located between Ghawar, the world's largest conventional onshore oilfield, and the Persian Gulf coast holds estimated reserves of 200 trillion cubic feet of raw gas.

Saudi Aramco expects the field's production to reach 2.2 billion standard cubic feet per day of sales gas by 2036, along with the production of ethane, gas liquids and condensates.
