Using the remote site management platform, Hyundai E&C said that experts at the head office can remotely control unmanned drones at each construction site and check the safety of field workers in dangerous work areas in real-time with various devices such as 360° cameras and CCTV images. In the event of an accident, immediate safety measures can be taken to minimize damage.
Unmanned drones autonomously fly along a preset flight path and return to their station for charging and effective operation without human intervention. Photos and video data acquired during drone flight are automatically transmitted to a drone analysis platform and used to analyze the status of construction sites and for process confirmation and quality inspection.
Smart glasses allow field workers and officials at headquarters to monitor the same scene and hold multilateral video conferences while checking the screen sent by drones in real-time through smart glasses.
Hyundai E&C said that the remote site management platform was successfully piloted at a construction site in the southeastern city of Gyeongju in October. "We will lead future smart construction technology by linking the remote field management platform with various smart technologies such as artificial intelligence and robotics," an unnamed official from the builder's research center said in a statement on December 2.
