​Türkiye's deputy social minister attends memorial ceremony at UN Cemetery in Busan

SEOUL -- Türkiye's Deputy Minister of Family and Social Services Ministry has attended a special memorial ceremony held to mark the 70th anniversary of the armistice agreement that ended the fighting in the Korean War (1950~1953).
 
The Turkish Embassy in South Korea said in a statement on July 27 that Zafer Tarıkdaroğlu, Deputy Minister of Family and Social Services, attended the commemoration ceremony held at the United Nations Ceremony in the southern port city of Busan. The ceremonial event was designed as a memorial event for the commemoration of the armistice agreement that ended the three-year-long fighting in the Korean War.
 
The Turkish government official attended the ceremony with South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol and first lady Kim Keon-hee. Government officials and envoys including Luxembourg's Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, New Zealand's Governor General Cindy Kiro, and high-level participants from 22 countries that sent troops to the Korean peninsula, also attended the memorial event.
 
Deputy Minister Tarıkdaroğlu also attended the "2023 Ministerial Summit on Veterans Affairs" on the theme of "Solidarity for the Value of Freedom," organized by South Korea's Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs. After the meeting, Tarıkdaroğlu visited the graves of Turkish Korean War veterans located at the UN Cemetary in Busan to pray.
