SEOUL -- BTS member V has released his very first solo album called "Layover." V had previously released original soundtracks for dramas and mix tapes, self-composed experimental songs distributed for free, but this is the first time for the 27-year-old to release an official album.

Layover is a rhythm and blues (R&B)-themed piece containing six songs. V pre-released songs "Rainy Days" and "Love Me Again" about a month before the release of his album. The teaser video for Layover's title song "Slow Dancing" was released via YouTube at about midnight (1500 GMT) on September 8 and it was watched more than 1.2 million times in less than 12 hours.

Big Hit Music, BTS' label, said that the songs selected for V's album reflect the artist's preference for music styles. The album, its songs, performances, design, and promotion were produced by Min Hee-jin, the genius producer behind the creation and management of NewJeans, the sister band of BTS.

According to the music label, Min focused on the simplicity behind the glamour and incorporated V's natural charm into the music. "As a result, an album focused on V's unique vocal tone and essence has been completed," Big Hit said.
