SEOUL -- YG Entertainment, one of South Korea's top entertainment powerhouses, has postponed the debut of a new girl band "BABYMONSTER." The agency of top K-pop act BLAKCPINK said that the new band will start its official activities in November, two months later than the officially announced September release schedule.
BABYMONSTER, originally scheduled to hit the stage in September is a seven-member band comprised of members from South Korea, Thailand, and Japan. K-pop fans from around the world paid huge attention to the group as it was YG's first girl band to debut in about seven years since BLACKPINK was launched in 2016.
YG asked for fans' understanding for the late debut of BABYMONSTER through a statement on October 10. "We carefully considered the selection of the title track to repay with the best results, and during the process, we apologize for the band's debut being slightly delayed compared to what was originally mentioned in September," YG said.
According to the agency, the band will start filming its first music video at the end of October. BABYMONSTER members are currently practicing the choreography for the title track. Even before its debut, BABYMONSTER garnered more than three million subscribers to its YouTube channel.
