German automaker Porsche AG introduced five new models of its sports utility vehicle, the Cayenne, in South Korea Friday, expanding its lineup of luxurious sports vehicles here.

The Cayenne, the basic model of the new series, comes with a 3.6-liter V6 engine that produces 300 horsepower while the fastest and the most luxurious of the series, the Cayenne Turbo, comes with a 4.8-liter V8 engine.

The turbo-charged engine of the Cayenne Turbo produces overwhelming 500 horsepower at its peak, allowing the vehicle to reach 100 km/h from zero in just 4.7 seconds, according to Stuttgart Sports Cars Ltd., the local importer and distributor of Porsche vehicles.

"Over 150 units of the new Cayenne models have already been sold as we began receiving pre-orders in May," said Michael Vetter, president of Stuttgart Sports Cars.

"This reflects our customers' continued confidence in the quality and performance of new Porsche cars."

Also introduced Friday were the Cayenne Diesel, Cayenne S and Cayenne S Hybrid, which has a high gas mileage of over 12 kilometers per liter despite its 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine.

The basic local price of the Cayenne was set at 88.5 million won (US$71,400) while prices for the same model could go up to 105.9 million won with additional features.

The base price of the Cayenne Turbo starts at 158 million won while the same model with a premium package will cost 179.9 million won.//Yonhap
