Amid high concerns over frequent pirate attacks and hostage-taking including recent S.Korea's commercial ship case, Jack Lang, a special adviser on piracy to UN, told on Monday the United Nations Security Council that internatonal cooperation to get them under justice is needed, among those steps is hunting their 'boss' in underground.
He said that there are 12 chiefs behind these outlaws operating in the Indian Ocean and not everything has been done to get to the top and capture the brains behind these crimes, suggesting the global body carry out individual sanctions on the criminals.
"Pirates have become experts in laundering money through hotels and other projects overseas," he said.
The special adviser suggested establishing a court under Somali jurisdiction, which should be based in a foreign country to try the hundreds of Somali pirates held in prisons around the world.
Meanwhile, Korea announced this week it will prosecute the Somali pirates captured in a special forces operation last week in its own land.
In the wake of the recently increasing pirates criminal behavior, an international meeting on tracking money from Somalia piracy will be held in Washington on March 1st, which is host by the UN.
