Korea's Annual Trade Volume Surpasses $1 tln

For the first time ever, the annual trade volume has been 1 trillion dollars in Korea. Korea‘s accumulative trade volume surpassed the one trillion mark Monday afternoon.

“Korea is one of the 10 largest trading partners to 52 countries. Korea is now truly standing in the middle of the global trade scene. This is what it means to be a country with a trade volume reaching one trillion dollars,” Hong Suk-woo, Minister of Knowledge Economy, said.

The U.S. was the first out of the nine countries that achieved the trillion dollar trade volume in a year. Mainly driven by the nations strong exports, Korea’s annual trade volumes have increased a thousandfold in 4 decades.
