South Korean Unification Minister Ryoo Kihl-Jae Thursday called for the resolution of an inter-Korean standoff over a joint industrial complex in the North Korean border city of Gaeseong through "dialogue."

In a statement, Ryoo called on North Korea to come to the negotiating table to discuss issues that have been raised by the North with regard to the inter-Korean industrial park.

The minister also urged Pyongyang to stop making further provocations which hamper peace and stability in Northeast Asia and behave as a responsible member of the international community.

"I strongly urge North Korea not to ratchet up tensions on the Korean Peninsula any longer," he emphasized.

On Tuesday, North Korea suspended operations of the Gaeseong complex by withdrawing all of its workers from the site.

There are also signs the North could fire off missiles any time soon, according to intelligence reports.
