STX Heavy bags W55.4 bil. deal to produce diesel engines, generators for LST-IIs

STX Heavy Industries said Wednesday it has signed a 55.4 billion won contract with the Defense Acquisition Program Administration to produce diesel engines and generators for amphibious landing ships (LST-IIs). LST stands for landing ship tank.

The signing took place on Tuesday, the company said.

Under the deal, STX will deliver 5,400Kw diesel engines and 1,200Kw generators for three LST-IIs between 2015 and 2017.

Last January, STX delivered a diesel engine and generator for the first LST-II named after Cheonwangbong, the highest peak of Mt. Jiri in the southwestern part of the country.
