Apple could raise price of iPhone 6

Apple Inc. may raise the price of its next iPhone by $50 to $100 over the current models due to the likelihood of a larger screen and other improvements, according to U.S. media Wednesday (local time).

When Apple released the iPhone 5S two months ago, it came with a price tag of $199 for 16 GB version, and the iPhone 5C with $99 for 16 GB model.

When the company has released a new iPhone, it has kept that version’s price at the same level as the previous model.

The possible price increase is to make up for profit margins that declined when Apple released the iPhone 5 in 2012, the Market Watch said.

The so-called iPhone 6 is expected to be released sometime next year.
