Andrew Boldt, 21, was shot to death at about noon in a basement classroom of Purdue University's electrical engineering building, the reports said, quoting the university’s police chief John Cox.
Cox said the suspect, Cody Cousins, 23, is in custody after surrendering outside the building following the shooting.
Students gathered on campus for a candlelight vigil in honor of Boldt later in the day.
