Foreign-brand cars' share in the South Korean market will jump from 14.1 percent in August to 27 percent, since sales of foreign-brand vehicles have risen sharply in recent years, Marketing Insight said, based on a survey of 5,582 automobile buyers.
Domestic market share of imported cars stood at merely 1.3 percent in 2002, but it soared to 10 percent in 2012, the company noted.
According to the Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association, sales of foreign-brand automobiles totaled 112,375 units in the first seven months of 2014, up 25.6 percent from 89,440 vehicles tallied during the same period last year.
