Korean Air, South Korea's largest flag carrier, failed to join the ranks of the top 10 in the 2014 FlightStats On-time Performance Service (OPS) Awards with an on-time performance rate of 83.09 percent, down 0.38 percentage points from 83.47 percent in the previous year.
In 2013, Korean Air ranked 10th in the FlightStats OPS awards.
Asiana Airlines, South Korea's second-largest flag carrier, did worse than Korean Air, posting an on-time performance rate of 74.36 percent, 8.73 percentage points lower than that of Korean Air.
KLM was the world's best performer with a rate of 88.66 percent, closely followed by SAS (Scandinavian Airlines), 88.62 percent; and Iberia, 88.46 percent.
Also on the top 10 list were Japan Airlines, Saudia, ANA (All Nippon Airways), Lufthansa, Air Berlin, LAN Airlines and Singapore Airlines.
Chinese carriers' rates remained low - 63.51 percent for China Southern Airlines and 58.75 percent for China Eastern Airlines.
In the category of alliances, One World ranked first with an on-time performance rate of 79.97 percent. Star Alliance, including Asiana Airlines, came in second with 77.19 percent, while Sky Team to which Korean Air belongs placed third with 76.08 percent.
