FAILED ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT IN 1952: Yoo Shi-tae (circled), then aged 63, was about to snipe former President Syngman Rhee during a ceremony to mark the second anniversary of the outbreak of the 1950-1953 Korean War in the southeastern port city of Busan on June 25, 1952. The picture was released to the press Monday (local time) by Kim Tae-jin, a member of the International Map Collectors' Society (IMCoS), who is residing in New Jersey, the United States. It is contained in a photo album made by the Counter Intelligence Corps (CIC), a World War II and early Cold War intelligence agency within the U.S. Army.
