Thursday, Lenovo-owned Motorola unveiled a new lineup of smartphones "Moto Z" and "Moto Z Force" and the new phones have everything new but lack one thing – 3.5mm headphone jack.

Rumors have been around that Apple's upcoming iPhone 7 series will be released without the headphone jacks, which enraged many smartphone users including the Hi-Fi (high fidelity) audio fans, but nobody saw this coming. Lenovo became the first major smartphone maker to ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack.

However, Lenovo included a USB-C to 3.5mm converter into the Moto Z series' boxed set so that the earphone or headphone lovers can still carry on using their hearing devices. But Lenovo did not quite make clear on whether the company would include an actual earphone to the smartphone's package.

A USB-C to 3.5mm converter could be a good news for some, but it may become an important aspect which could turn its users to go wireless, using Bluetooth earphones. It's because the users may think the converter as a bulky, excessive accessory or for some users, the sound may feel a little altered during the converting process.

Meanwhile, Apple, which is also rumored to have decided to ditch the 3.5mm headphone jacks, is to include a lightning to 3.5mm converter into the upcoming iPhone packages. But some experts predict that the tech giant may include a cheap version of Bluetooth earphones or not include any earphone at all.
