Jung, 30, admitted to all criminal charges as a court opened a hearing Thursday on an arrest warrant sought by prosecutors. "I'm really sorry. I have committed an unforgivable crime. I acknowledge all charges against me," he said in a statement, adding he would accept the court's judgment without contesting.
He is suspected of playing a key role in a sex video scandal by distributing sex video files through social media chat rooms and sharing them with other K-pop artists. Illegal distribution and filming of unauthorized sex videos provide for a maximum jail term of five years or a fine of 30 million won ($26,525).
Police did not say how many artists have shared sex video files, but five including Jung and Seungri, who was expelled from BIGBANG, have been identified, leading to a permanent halt to their entertainment career. Three other artists are Lee Jong-hyun, a CNBLUE member, Yong Jun-Hyung of Highlight and FT ISLAND's Choi Jong-hoon.
