SEOUL -- "Golden," BTS member Jungkook's very first album, was named on Billboard's top 200 popular song chart for eight consecutive weeks. The album was released 39 days before the 26-year-old artist started his mandatory military service on December 12.

Billboard's chart released on January 3 showed that Golden ranked 46th on the Billboard 200 chart. The album, containing 11 English songs, depicts the story of Jungkook's journey to becoming a global pop star. The album's title track "Standing Next to You" was also listed on Hot 100, Billboard's weekly song chart that ranks the top 100 popular songs, for eight weeks in a row.

Along with BTS' lead vocalist Jimin, Jungkook is currently going through five weeks of basic training at a front-line infantry division that guards the inter-Korean border. The 5th Infantry Division in Yeoncheon, some 59.5 kilometers (37 miles) north of Seoul, is known for tough training and military service as well as freezing weather in winter.

Jungkook is the sixth member of BTS to make his solo debut after J-Hope, Jin, RM, Jimin, and Suga. His debut song "Seven" was listed on Hot 100 for 13 consecutive weeks. In May 2023, he was selected as the global ambassador of Calvin Klein, an iconic American fashion brand recognized for its underwear and denim products.
