LAS VEGAS -- LG Electronics will showcase its wireless transparent OLED TV for the first time at the Consumer Electronics Show, the world's largest annual electronics exhibition held in Las Vegas. The TV featuring a "self-lit" organic light-emitting diode screen requires no cables except the power cord, maximizing its portability.

Self-lit organic light-emitting diode (OLED) technology refers to a display system with individual pixels capable of emitting their own light independently. The display system differentiates itself from other displays such as light-emitting diode (LED) or liquid crystal display (LCD) types that require a backlight panel to show intended color depths. OLED displays' characteristics are brighter and more vibrant colors and contrast, and faster response time.

LG said that the company will showcase "LG Signature OLED T" at the CES 2024 to be held in Las Vegas from January 9 to January 12 (local time). The transparent TV looks like a piece of furniture that blends into its environment when turned off, but it will turn into a 4K ultra-high resolution TV when turned on.

For some interior enthusiasts, cables that connect TVs and other devices such as a set-top box, a PC, a video game console, and an internet router are a nuisance that harms the overall look of the interior of a living room. The new signature TV's only physical cable is the power cord. It is connected to other devices wirelessly.

Without disclosing the detailed specifications of the top-notch TV, LG said that its transparent OLED will be commercially available in the global market in 2025.
