SEOUL, September 16 (AJP) - A Dubai princess who made headlines for her Instagram divorce has returned to the platform to launch her new perfume, “Divorce.”
Princess Mahra bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, daughter of Dubai ruler and UAE Prime Minister Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has shared several photos of herself holding the perfume bottle over the past two days. This follows a teaser post five days earlier, promoting her perfume brand Mahra M1, along with the reveal of the black matte bottle featuring the name “Divorce” in white.
The perfume’s debut included striking visuals, such as a black panther, black roses, and broken glass. Though the fragrance’s “notes” haven't been disclosed, some speculate it symbolizes freedom. The perfume’s sleek black design has been compared to one by Kim Kardashian.
In her promotional images, Princess Mahra wore a white pantsuit and a silver dress, showcasing what Vogue Arabia called her bold new look, which includes black hair replacing her golden-brown locks.
Celebrity fragrances have a long history of success. Hollywood actress Elizabeth Taylor is credited with starting the trend in 1987 with her perfume “Passion,” which helped her amass a $1 billion fortune. Kim Kardashian, Beyoncé, and Jennifer Lopez have also made millions from their perfumes, while boyband One Direction’s fragrance outsold Chanel No. 5 at its launch.
It remains to be seen whether Princess Mahra’s perfume will achieve similar success.
