Speaking at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Monday, Xi, who also heads the Communist Party of China and the Central Military Commission, addressed an audience of about 3,000 Chinese and international guests. The event, held ahead of China's National Day on Tuesday, was presided over by Li Qiang, with other top officials in attendance.
Xi paid tribute to China's diverse ethnic groups, military personnel, various political parties, and individuals without party affiliations. He extended greetings to those in Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese communities, while also thanking international supporters of China's development.
The president emphasized that China's main focus is to become a strong nation and achieve national rejuvenation through Chinese modernization. He outlined key principles for this goal, including maintaining the Party's leadership, adhering to socialism with Chinese characteristics, continuing reforms and opening up, prioritizing people's needs, and pursuing peaceful development.
Regarding Hong Kong and Macao, Xi reaffirmed the One Country, Two Systems policy, aiming for their long-term prosperity and stability. On Taiwan, he stressed its status as part of China and called for increased cross-strait exchanges while opposing independence movements.
Xi advocated for building a global community with a shared future, acknowledging that all nations share the same planet and destiny.
While celebrating China's progress over the past 75 years, Xi also warned of potential challenges ahead. He urged vigilance and preparation to overcome future uncertainties and risks.
The speech underscored China's commitment to national development and its aspiration to play a significant role in global affairs, balancing optimism with caution about future challenges.
