SEOUL -- "FACE," a solo album by BTS member Jimin, has become the second-best album on Billboard's top 200 popular albums chart. It is the highest record among Korean language-based solo albums.
The album released on March 24 was ranked second on the list of Billboard 200 chart with 164,000 equivalent album units sold in the United States in the week ending on March 30. "One Thing at a Time," an album by American singer Morgan Wallen, topped the chart with 197,000 equivalent units. The ranking is confirmed based on the number of album sales, track equivalent album (TEA), and streaming equivalent album (SEA).
Jimin's solo album features the 27-year-old artist's honest feelings during the COVID-19 pandemic. As of March 26, the album's title track "Like Crazy" was played about 6.01 million times on Spotify, topping the streaming service's Global Top 50. Jimin has also performed the title song on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," a popular American talk show.
The artist, who is the fourth BTS member with a solo album, has consistently showcased his talents. He collaborated with BIGBANG member Taeyang for "VIBE," a song with more than 95 million views on YouTube. Jimin is also serving as the global ambassador of Christian Dior, a France-based high-end luxury fashion brand.
The artist is required to fulfill his compulsory military service in South Korea which is technically at war with North Korea. In South Korea, all able-bodied males who are 18 and older must do mandatory military service for at least 18 months unless they have a valid reason for exemption. Jin, the eldest member of BTS, started his service in December 2022. J-Hope, the group's main dancer, would be the second member to join the military.
