Ssangyong Motor Co., South Korea's smallest carmaker, said Tuesday that it has agreed to export 168,100 vehicles to Russia's OAO Sollers until 2017.

The South Korean carmaker, now under court-led restructuring, said it will supply its sport utility vehicles such as the Rexton and Kyron in so-called knockdown kits for assembly in Russia starting this year.

Ssangyong did not reveal the value of the contract.

Ssangyong Motor has exported around 40,000 vehicles to OAO Sollers since 2005.

Creditors of Ssangyong Motor are seeking to sell the automaker. Nissan Motor Co., Renault SA and four other bidders are conducting due diligence on the Korean company.

Samjong KPMG, a South Korean unit of the global services firm KPMG, and Macquarie Securities are managing the envisioned sale. The creditors plan to choose a preferred bidder in August.

Ssangyong Motor has been under bankruptcy protection since February 2009 after its former Chinese parent company, Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. (SAIC), abandoned the automaker amid the global financial crisis.

China's SAIC Motor Corp. owns 6.2 percent of Ssangyong. Barclays Bank Plc and Barclays Capital Securities Ltd. are Ssangyong's largest shareholder with a combined stake of 8.02 percent.//Yonhap
