Thirteen children died in a deadly blaze that occurred at a Muslim school in Rangoon, Myanmar.

Although there were many children in the school, most of them managed to escape from the fire and thus remain safe. The school was totally burned in the fire.

Police officials said that the fire occurred due to some electrical fault. But others said that the blaze was somehow linked to communal violence which happened recently in some parts of the Southeast Asian country.

The violence started from March and since then many people have been killed as a consequence of the attacks on minority Muslims. It was estimated that around 40 Muslims were killed due to communal violence which is prevalent in Myanmar.

Several serious incidents of the communal dispute between Buddhists and Muslims were reported, which has forced the government to take serious steps to improve the situation. Curfews have since been imposed in many places.

Police officials reported that 75 orphans were given shelter in a mosque located in eastern Rangoon. When the fire broke out, many children struggled to come out of the building, and when police opened the door, many children ran out and escaped from the blaze.

Dormitory of the school ordered to keep the doors locked in order to ensure safety in the school and this action was taken to combat the recent tension which was raged in the country. All the victims of the incident were reported to be boys.

According to Myanmarese police’s Facebook page, severe fire burns and smoke inhalation caused the death of the victims but further investigation revealed that the fire was caused by high electric voltage.
