Chinese President Xi to give speech at Boao Forum

The 12th Boao Forum for Asia, an Asian version of the Davos Forum held in Switzerland, will open in Boao, south China's Hainan province, on April 6.

An estimated 3,000 dignitaries, including incumbent and former govenment officials, business leaders, NGO officials, scholars and journalists, will participate in the Boao Forum, the organizers said.

Highlights of this year's Boao Forum is a keynote speech to be delivered by Chinese President Xi Jinping during the opening ceremony of the forum. Chinese leaders gave keynote speeches at previous Boao Forums, they said.

Leaders of Brunei, Kazakhstan, Myanmar, Peru, Zambia, Finland, Mexico, Cambodia, New Zealand, Australia, Algeria and Mongolia will also take part in the forum, according to the organizers.

Other participants include International Monetary Fund (IMF) Chairwoman Christine Lagarde; Microsoft founder Bill Gates; American financial investor George Soros; Nippon Steel Chairman Mimura Akio; Erricsson CEO Hans Vestberg; Volvo Chief Executive Olof Persson; Han Duck-soo, chairman of the Korea International Trade Association; and Lee Jae-yong, vice chairman of Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics.

The Boao Forum is a non-profit, non-governmental organization established in February 2001 by 26 Asian representatives.
