A Japanese woman, nicknamed "Expo Grandma," caught the eye when she visited the venue of the Suncheon Bay Garden Expo 2013 in the southwestern part of the country.

According to the organizing committee, Domiyo Yamada, 64, who has visited six Expo locations around the world, visited the venue of the Suncheon Bay Garden Expo with her husband and son on Sunday. The Expo opened on April 20 and will continue through Oct. 20.

In a meeting with Na Seung-byeong, secretary-general of the organizing committee, Yamada said, "In order to interact with people around the world, I have attended many international expositions."

"I'm really happy to attend this beautiful Expo venue which loves the nature and is trying to protect it," she said.

She said she visited the Suncheon Expo venue several times when preparations were underway.

The grandma said she will provide a lot of things about the Suncheon Expo to Japanese media. "I want to help many Japanese attend the Expo."

She promised to bring brochures on the Suncheon Expo back to Japan and put them on display at the Morikoro Park, an Aichi Expo memorial park.

Yamada, who lives in Seto City, said she has so far visited Expo venues in Osaka (1970), Sevilla in Spain (1992), Zaragoza in Spain (2008), Aichi (2008), Shanghai (2010) and Yeosu in Korea (2012).
