Ciro Ferrara, a former manager of Juventus, is in negotiations with South Korea’s football governing body over the possibility of the Italian taking over the South Korean men’s national team, European media reported.

Ferrara met with officials of the Korea Football Association (KFA) in London on Monday (local time), Sky Sports said.

In a related development, Lee Yong-soo, chairman of the KFA’s technical committee, left Seoul for Europe on Aug. 31 for talks with candidates for head coach of the South Korean team, KFA officials said, declining to disclose Lee’s destination.

The post was vacated July 10 when Hong Myung-bo resigned in the wake of South Korea’s early exit from the round of 16 of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Born in 1967, Ferrara is a former Italian footballer who spent his playing career as a defender initially at Napoli and later on at Juventus. His most recent position was manager of Sampdoria.
