South Korea climbed 15 notches to 54th place in the FIFA rankings released on Thursday (local time), after it finished second at the AFC Asian Cup tournament in Australia in January.

Asia once again has a team in the top 50. Iran (41st, up 10) is the highest-ranked Asian country.

Australia, the winner of the 2015 Asian Cup, jumped 37 spots to 63rd place. United Arab Emirates (66th, up 14), Iraq (94th, up 20) and China (82nd, up 14) also climbed at least 10 places.

Japan dropped to 55th and Uzbekistan came in 71st.

The top 5 - Germany, Argentina, Colombia, Belgium and the Netherlands - remained unchanged.
