Samsung Electronics' brand value rises 11.4% on-year in 2015: brand consultancy

Samsung Electronics' brand value rose about 11 percent to more than 50 trillion won in 2015 from a year ago, a brand consultancy said Tuesday.

The brand of Samsung Electronics was valued at 50.97 trillion won, up 11.4 percent from last year, topping the "Best Korea Brands 2015" report published by Interbrand.

Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors also saw their brand value increase 12.2 percent to 11.67 trillion won and 11.3 percent to 6.05 trillion won on-year in 2015, respectively, the report said.

The brands of the top 3 were worth about 68 trillion won or 55 percent of the combined brand value of the top 50.

SK Telecom and Samsung Life Insurance retained their No. 4 and and 5 spots, respectively, while Naver moved up two notches to sixth. LG Electronics remained at No. 7, whereas POSCO, Shinhan Card and KB Kookmin Bank stayed in eighth, ninth and 10th place, respectively.  

Included in the top 50 were Amore-Pacific (16th), Hyundai Mobis (17th), Samsung Card (19th), Hyundai Engineering and Construction (23rd), Doosan Infracore (31st), Samsung Securities (32nd), Hotel Shilla (35th), Daum-Kakao (37th) and Hyundai Home Shopping (48th).
