In the January-April period of this year, Tiguan, a crossover utility vehicle powered by diesel, sold 3,454 vehicles, far outpacing Audi A6 35 TDI (2,363 units sold), according to the data compiled by the Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association (KAIDA).
In 2014, Tiguan's sales reached 8,106 vehicles or 4.1 percent of the total 196,359 foreign-brand cars sold to become the best-selling foreign model in the country. BMW 520d ranked second with 6,546 units sold, followed by Mercedes-Benz E 220 CDI (5,921 units), Volkswagen Golf 2.0 TDI (5,282), Volkswagen Passat 2.0 TDI (4,577) and Lexus ES300h (4,386).
