S. Korean actor Park Seo-joon gains popularity in China: agency

Park Seo-joon, who plays the male lead role in MBC's drama "She Was Pretty," gains popularity in China as the television series has become a hit there, his management agency in Seoul said.

The number of his followers on Weibo, China's equivalent of Twitter, soared by more than 50,000 for two consecutive weeks, according to the agency, KeyEast Entertainment.

"The number of his followers on his Weibo account was estimated at 136,000 as of Oct. 21, the agency said. Park opened the account in March.

The Wednesday-Thursday drama has also become a hit on its home turf, South Korea, since it premiered on Sept. 16. Hwang Jung-eum plays the female lead role in the 16-episode TV series.
