SEOUL -- Online K-pop communities are in hype as BTS member J-Hope is gearing up to release a new solo track "Chicken Noodle Soup" featuring American artist Becky G at 6:00 p.m. (0900 GMT) on Friday.
The 25-year-old's new solo song is a remake of "Chicken Noodle Soup", released by American musicians DJ Webstar and Young B in 2006. J-Hope has added his own twist into the original song which he came across during his pre-debut days as an underground dancer.
Big Hit Entertainment told media this week that J-Hope and Becky G would collaborate thanks to their love of the original song. In the recreated song, J-Hope will sing his part in Korean while Becky G will sing her part in Spanish.
The music video for "Chicken Noodle Soup" will be directed by Lumpens, a group of directors and producers which created the seven-member band's music videos such as "FAKE LOVE", "IDOL" and "Euphoria". J-Hope's new solo song and its music video will be released for free.
J-Hope, the main dancer of BTS, has been honing his skills as a dancer, rapper and composer by writing, composing and producing the band's hit songs such as "MIC Drop" and "Boy With Luv". He has also pursued his own music styles by releasing solo works. J-Hope's first mixtape "Hope World", released in March last year, took the No. 38 spot in Billboard 200 chart, a weekly chart ranking the 200 most popular albums in the United States.
A mixtape album is a free experimental album containing self-produced songs. Other BTS members RM and Suga have released mixtape albums in 2015, 2016 and 2018.
BTS, which resumed its official activities on September 16 after a one-month-long vacation, is currently filming a reality show in overseas locations. The band will hold a concert as part of this year's world concert tour at King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh on October 11 before wrapping up the tour with concerts in Seoul.
