[CES 2023] LG Electronics to demonstrate smart home platform using various home appliances at CES

SEOUL -- At the Consumer Electronic Show, an annual electronics show held in Las Vegas, LG Electronics will demonstrate whether its smart platform can control home appliances created by other companies. Through the platform equipped with voice control and artificial intelligence technology, the company aims to upgrade the connectivity between products of many different brands so that consumers can conveniently use home appliances.
The artificial intelligence (AI) platform called ThinQ enables users to remotely check the temperature of a refrigerator and control the air conditioner. At the CES event, LG will control home applies such as a washing machine, an air purifier, an air conditioner and a refrigerator.

"As a member of HCA (Home Connectivity Alliance), LG is contributing to the realization of a safe, secure and interoperable connected home ecosystem," LG's home appliance and air solution division head Lyu Jae-cheol said in a statement on January 6. HCA was created by Samsung with an aim to establish internet of things (IoT) standards optimized for home appliances.
"Through collaboration and open innovation, we will continue to provide consumers with solutions for a smarter, more convenient way of living," Lyu said. The conglomerate will test whether LG's home appliances can be controlled using smart home platforms created by other companies.
According to data released by market research firm Grand View Research, the global market for smart home systems is estimated at $62.6 billion in 2022. The market is growing at an average annual growth rate of 27.04 percent.
