SEOUL, April 16 (AJU PRESS) - More than a dozen Korean small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are participating in a biannual expo in Guangzhou which began on Monday. The so-called "China Import and Export Fair," is one of the largest business fairs in China.

The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) set up a joint booth for Korean SMEs. Exhibitiors are displaying various consumer goods, including home appliances and electronic products.

The biannual trade fair, also known as "Canton Fair," features high-tech products and serves as a gateway for China's import and export with overseas businesses.

KOTRA said Tuesday that it set up the booth to support Korean companies seeking business opportunities in China. Among them are home appliance maker Cuckoo Electronics, water purifier manufacturer ChungHo Nais, and the kitchenware company PN Poong Nyun. The booth will remain open until Friday.

"We came up with setting up a booth to help Korean SMEs make inroads into the Chinese market. Major conglomerates are currently displaying their products through separate booths," KOTRA's spokesperson Kim Ji-young told Aju Press. She said demand for Korean products is increasing among Chinese buyers and consumers there. During the previous exhibitions in 2023, KOTRA's joint booth was featured in major Chinese media outlets including CCTV and People's Daily.
