The musical titled "Baby Shark's Big Broadwave Tour" will be showcased in 34 regions in the United States including Iowa, Ohio, Minnesota, and Louisiana. The show is an extension of the animated children's television series "Baby Shark's Big Show!" The first season of Baby Shark's Big Show!, released in March 2021, ranked first in the U.S. among infant and child viewers on the first day of airing.
The musical tour is part of Pinkfong's strategy to bolster its offline entertainment business worldwide. The content startup will host similar shows also in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Korea and it has already premiered a musical in Japan. The Japanese musical "BABY SHARK LIVE! The Hidden Treasure" attracted 3,000 fans in Tokyo on the first day.
"We are selecting themes and topics for the musicals designed for each country," Pinkfong's chief business officer Gemma Joo told Aju Press. She said the company has selected different themes for performances in the U.S., Japan, Hong Kong, and Korea, while the concept for Singapore is still under discussion.
Pinkfong has garnered immense popularity with its Baby Shark content. Baby Shark portrays the narrative of a lively family of white sharks through vibrant visuals and catchy melody. The "Baby Shark Dance" video uploaded in 2016 gained more than 14 billion views.
