SEOUL -- "Bebefinn Playtime," an animation show created by South Korea’s educational entertainment company Pinkfong has garnered popularity mainly in English-speaking countries on Netflix. The animation content topped the over-the-top (OTT) service's daily chart featuring popular children's content in eight countries.

Bebefinn Playtime was created in December 2023 as a follow-up to "Bebefinn," a three-dimensional animated series featuring the five-member family of a 20-month-old baby named "Finn." Finn, who likes to play with Baby Shark, has four family members -- mother, father, brother, and sister. Finn's family showcases various dance movements with catchy songs that are easy to sing along to.

Pinkfong said on January 2 that Bebefinn Playtime ranked first on Netflix's Top 10 Kids chart in eight countries including the United States, Britain, Australia, Canada, and South Africa. The animation also entered the top 5 in Hong Kong, New Zealand, and Sweden. "We will continue to present content that can be enjoyed by viewers regardless of their age and establish ourselves as a global family entertainment company," an unnamed Pinkfong official said in a statement.

The YouTube channel of Bebefinn currently has more than 24 million subscribers. Thanks to its fast-growing popularity, the Bebefinn series was released on Netflix in 190 countries with English, Spanish, and Korean subtitles. Pinkfong has received immense popularity through its Baby Shark content. Baby Shark depicts a story about a family of great white sharks with colorful visuals and a catchy melody. The "Baby Shark Dance" video uploaded in 2016 gained more than 13 billion views.
