SEOUL, June 07 (AJU PRESS) - LG Uplus, a telecom operator, has partnered with the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) to establish an artificial intelligence-based metaverse platform for tech-savvy young students.

The two sides recently signed a cooperation agreement designed to enhance the educational experience for students adept at remote learning by providing an immersive virtual world, the company said.

The artificial intelligence capabilities of GIST, located in the southwestern city of Gwangju, will be integrated with LG Uplus' university-specialized metaverse platform "Uverse." AI solutions will be applied to assist with group projects, campus announcements and real-time translation for international students.

"Through the establishment of an AI metaverse campus capable of overcoming the limitations of time and space in collaboration with LG Uplus, we will provide our students with a new form of learning environment," said Kim Joon-ha, dean of GIST's AIX School.
